Bespoke software

Bespoke business software at the cost of a tool

If your business runs on spreadsheets, paper and scattered messages, I build the custom app you need: with a real database, on your phone, and without paying for a huge system you use 10% of.

  • Only what your business needs
  • Database and user logins
  • Works on phone and desktop
  • The data is yours

Bespoke software development without never-ending projects

It is the most practical side of AI consultancy: small internal tools that are built in weeks and that your team uses from day one.

Off-the-shelf software

  • Lots of features, most of them unused
  • You adapt to the software
  • A per-user subscription, forever
  • Worth it if your process is standard and a good product already exists

Custom business app

  • Only the features you need
  • The software adapts to how you work
  • Development plus an agreed maintenance plan
  • Worth it if the way you work is your edge, or nothing fits

Custom software development tends to sound expensive and slow. It does not have to be. If the problem is well defined (quotes, orders, clients, rotas, attendance), a simple app with a good database solves it. And where it helps, we add AI to save time: drafting, sorting or sending alerts.

The custom business apps I build

Common examples. If yours is different, tell me about it.

Quotes and orders

From the form or the phone call to a quote in your format, and from there to the order, without copying data by hand.

Bespoke CRM

Your clients, contacts, opportunities and tasks in one place, with the fields you actually use.

Job and time tracking

Job sheets, clocking in, materials and photos from your phone, with a summary ready for invoicing.

Dashboards with your numbers

Sales, bookings, enquiries or output in a dashboard that updates itself and makes sense at a glance.

How custom business apps work

Web apps with a database, installable on your phone like any other app.

Need a native app for the App Store or Google Play? For internal use it is rarely worth it. If your case needs one, I will tell you plainly and point you in the right direction.

  • A real database (PostgreSQL with Supabase, or Google Sheets when the volume is small), with backups.
  • User logins and roles: everyone sees what is relevant to them.
  • In the browser and on your phone: it installs like an app with its own icon, no app store involved.
  • Connected to what you already use: your email, calendar, spreadsheets or website.
Case study · In development

Case study: a custom app for an entrepreneurs' association

CIJE (Círculo de Jóvenes Emprendedores) brings entrepreneurs together in several groups around Vigo, in north-west Spain. Members, annual fees, breakfast meetings with attendance and each group's presentations were all handled in spreadsheets and messages.

I am building an internal app with a database and role-based access: the founders see everything, including renewals and fees; each coordinator sees only their own group, with its meetings, attendance and presentations. It installs on the phone and keeps the history, with attendance charts.

  • PostgreSQL database (Supabase)
  • Role-based access
  • Installable on the phone
  • History and charts

Custom apps and automation

An app organises your information. If you also want certain tasks to happen by themselves (alerts, emails, invoices, reports), it pairs with AI automation.

Is it an app I download from the App Store?

No. These are web apps: they open in the browser and install on your phone with one tap, with their own icon, like any other app. For an internal tool that is cheaper, quicker to build and easier to maintain than a native app.

Is bespoke software better than off-the-shelf?

Not always. If your process is standard and there is already a good product for it, buy that. Bespoke pays off when the way you work is part of your advantage, or when nothing on the market fits without workarounds.

Who owns the data?

You do. The database sits in an account in your name wherever possible, and you can export the information whenever you want.

What if the business grows?

The app is designed to grow: more users, more modules or connections to other tools. If one day you need something much bigger, the data can be migrated without losing anything.

Who maintains it?

I do. I propose a maintenance plan with fixes, backups and small changes, and you have it in writing before we start.

How much does bespoke software cost?

Much less than a large management system, because only what you need gets built. Once I have seen your case, I give you a fixed price in writing.

Tell me how you work today and I will suggest the simplest app that solves it, with a price in writing.
